Artworks

Biography

The first works of art in ink by his self- taught artist ,born in Sant Gregori,in the province of Girona in 1965, were already to be found on show in some group exhibitions in the city of Barcelona in 1982, but since 1987 he has continuously been working and exhibiting his works in several  countries.

After beginning  to work with ink, and thereafter with oil ,since 1989 he has used exclusively acrylic pigments , tempera  colours  and natural earth pigments ,without ever abandoning ink for his preliminary studies. He is gifted with a style in constant evolution , already remarkable  in his first paintings dating back to his time in the island of Menorca from 1987 to 1989. Afterwards he moved to Italy, first to Rome to collaborate in the multi-media performance “In Casa Nostra” and then to Florence for several projects.

At the end of 1991 he left Florence and after a short period in Barcelona, he moved to New Zeland. He lived and worked in this country for the next five years, realizing several exhibitions and private commissions .In the same period he created the artistic company “La Ray” in collaboration with the contemporary dancer Raewyn  Hill, inaugurating a personal solo exhibition in his art café “Vesuvio” entitled ”The last Exhibition”, which turned out to be a memorable artistic festival with the participation of renowned artists of the country. He left New Zeland in 1997. He continued to travel , first to Barcelona and then to Florence holding exhibitions in each city, including one of his ink works in the prestigious old Florentine “Focardi” library.  In 1998 he left  Florence and moved to San Gimignano, in the province  of Sienna were he currently lives and works.

Through time, his artistic research has led him to a progressive isolation from contemporary influence and tends, concentrating more on his inner being rather than being conditioned by commercial success, with the  aim of obtaining an expression which respects and defends the beauty of forms without ignoring the diversity of styles, modernity, experimentation and innovation.

Biography

Evelyne Boren (a native of Munich, Germany) enjoys worldwide recognition for her impressionistic art interpretations of life, people and scenes of the Southwest, México and Europe in watercolor and oil paintings. Evelyne’s life reads like an adventure story – from the time she attended school in Switzerland and England, to her move to the United States in 1958 and her stunt work in movies.

Before beginning her full-time professional career as an artist, Evelyne had an aquatic career that included underwater stunt doubling in the James Bond films Thunderball and You Only Live Twice. She was the first woman in the world to swim with a killer whale in the movie Namu the Killer Whale. She appeared on the television programs What’s My Line and To Tell The Truth, where no one guessed her profession. She also appeared frequently in the television series Sea Hunt, Aquanauts and Flipper, where she helped train the star dolphin.

From these adventures she turned to painting in 1962, while on location filming in the Bahamas. The breathtaking color and beauty of the islands stirred a deep desire within Evelyne to express her feelings on canvas, so she began to paint. Her enthusiasm, drive and discipline have resulted in a very successful art career. Evelyne has studied with several important artists, but has developed a style that is strictly her own.

In 1990, in Roussillon, France, she entered a competition for paintings that used only burnt sienna, raw sienna and yellow ocher pigments that are mined locally. The only foreigner, she won first prize over forty French artists. In 1997, Evelyne had the honor of having one of her paintings selected for the official Santa Fe Opera Poster. She has more then 4,000 original paintings in private and corporate collections around the world.

Evelyne maintains a permanent studio in Santa Fe, New México, and in Sayulita, México.

Biography

Pepe Hidalgo’s artistic style encompasses both figurative and abstract narrative elements. While his figurative works are not bound by realism, they spring forth from the depths of his imagination. Notably, Hidalgo’s paintings derive their potency from the application of glazes or velatures. In fact, he employs two or three layers of these mediums in each painting, effectively crafting a profound sense of spatial depth.

A distinctive motif recurrent in Hidalgo’s works is the presence of a string or cord, symbolizing an umbilical connection between himself and the universe. This metaphorical cord not only tethers him to the cosmos but also facilitates his temporal journeys, allowing him to traverse between different times as if suspended between reality and imagination.

Hidalgo’s preferred mediums primarily include acrylics for painting and sketches for preliminary drafts. His journey as an artist commenced during his childhood, marked by frequent visits to the Museo del Prado in Madrid. Notably, his creative expression draws inspiration from eminent artists such as Velazquez, Zurbaran, El Bosco, and the Impressionists.

Art, for Hidalgo, serves as a liberating force, affording him the freedom to convey his thoughts uninhibitedly, unburdened by preconceived notions. This artistic emancipation empowers him to explore his innermost desires without the weight of expectations. When questioned about the sources of his artistic ideas, Hidalgo reveals that his creative well draws from a rich blend of astrology, mythology, history, life experiences, and personal insights. As one delves deeper into his art, the fusion of these diverse influences becomes palpably evident, eloquently manifested and thoughtfully expressed in his captivating paintings.
